‘Lost everything we had and family’: Ohatchee woman reflects on deadly tornado 3 years ago

On March 25, 2021, lives were forever altered by the devastating impact of 11 tornadoes in Alabama, including a powerful EF-3 tornado that tore through parts of Calhoun and Cherokee Counties, claiming the lives of six individuals.
 Angela Bowers shared her heart-wrenching experience, recounting the loss of her sister, Barbara Harris, brother-in-law Willie Harris, and their daughter Ebonique Harris. Bowers vividly remembers the tragic events of that day three years ago, expressing the profound void left by the loss of her loved ones and all their possessions.
 She described the harrowing moments of seeking shelter at the high school, only to be thwarted by fallen trees, leaving them stranded with her one-year-old granddaughter. Returning to the ruins of their home was a devastating experience for Bowers and her family, where they faced the harsh reality of their irreplaceable losses.
Despite the challenges, Bowers finds solace in prayer and cherishing the memories of her sister and family, holding onto the sentimental treasures that can never be recovered. While the rebuilding process has been slow and arduous, Bowers remains resilient, emphasizing the importance of preserving their cherished memories as they work towards recovery.
