Forward Beth, 27, who participated in the Euro 2022 championship victory over Germany the previous year, said June “went away gently.” The Arsenal player was named the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

In 2021, June received a diagnosis of the condition. Beth claimed that she, her 25-year-old brother Ben, and her father Richard were present when she lost her battle on Saturday.

Beth penned the following touching tribute online: “Our hearts are devastated. Although a component will always be lacking, heaven has now obtained a special angel.

Although I’m sorry you’re gone, I appreciate the time we spent together more. In the New Year’s Honours list, Beth, given an MBE, said, “If love could have rescued you, you would’ve lived forever.”

She added an edited photo of her and her mother holding hands with the message “Till we meet again” to accompany her tribute. “She praised June for being “beautiful, nice, and humorous.”

“We love you tonnes, forever & always,” the player said, adding a photo of herself and June holding the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 championship trophy. RIP, Mama.

The best in football sent their sympathies. Alex Scott, a 38-year-old BBC pundit, England stalwart, and former captain of Arsenal, wrote on Twitter: “Sending you as well as all your family just too much love.”

Leah Williamson, 25, a friend of Beth’s at Arsenal, added: “Love you all the world.” The 59-year-old great of the Arsenal said, “Love you.” Beth, who won the BBC sportsperson award last month over snooker Ronnie O’Sullivan and England cricket captain Ben Stokes, requested privacy.

“At one in the morning on January 7, our lovely, compassionate, and hilarious mother and wife lost their heroic and protracted fight with ovarian cancer. You would have lived forever if love could have saved you. Although I’m sorry you’re gone, I appreciate the time we spent together more.

“Some privacy would be appreciated during this trying time for our family. We adore you greatly, always and forever. RIP, Mom.”

In addition to the tribute, Mead shared several photos of her mother, some of which showed her cheering on the Lioness at the 2017 European Championship when England won after defeating Germany in the championship game at Wembley.

The 27-year-old Mead has been acknowledged for her accomplishments on the field even if her season has been shortened due to an ACL injury.

She was named the BBC Sportsperson of the Year in December, received an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list, and was nominated for the Best FIFA Women’s Player award thanks to her accomplishments.

After “a long and heroic battle with ovarian cancer,” Beth Mead’s mother, June, passed away, according to the England player.

Mead remarked, “You would have lived that long if love could have rescued you. Despite her mother’s illness, Beth Mead won multiple team and individual awards, including best player & leading goalscorer at Euro 2022, after learning that June Mead had cancer in 2021.

It’s been a terrible year for my family and her personality, but she has been great, she added. “The strength that my mum off the pitch has given me,” she said. “She left quietly while my dad, brother, and I were with her.

“Heaven has gained a specific angel even though our hearts are torn, and there will always be a piece missing. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. I’m sorry you’re gone; I’m more grateful for our time together.
Mead, an Arsenal forward, stated in a November BBC Sport interview that her mother was her “biggest drive.”

She has been fantastic, but it’s been a difficult year for my family, and she continued. She stated, “My mother’s strength off the field has given me.
