Did you know that other than Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth had another relative who has been accused of the same act?
As he continues to withdraw from public life, Prince Andrew is said to have resigned from the exclusive Naval and Military Club. Following his record settlement with rape victim Virginia Giuffre, the disgraced Duke of York is claimed to have “disappeared from the books.”
Since ascending through the ranks of the Royal Navy, he had been a member of the historical consortium – properly known as the In & Out. The 62-year-departure old’s comes at a particularly low period for him, considering his late father, Prince Phillip, was formerly the club’s president.
In the aftermath of the sex assault case, Prince Andrew was sensationally stripped of all of his titles and military honors, causing his formerly illustrious status to disintegrate, as per The Sun.
However, as he was about to collide with Giuffre, the Duke decided to settle the issue financially to avoid a protracted judicial battle. All charges against Prince Andrew have been vigorously disputed, and the money agreed upon between the two parties may never be released.
Queen Elizabeth’s cousin with sex assault history
Meanwhile, Simon Bowes-Lyon was photographed at a wedding in London barely seven months after being freed from prison for sexual assault.
Following the nuptials in Notting Hill today, the Earl of Strathmore, 35, a relative of Queen Elizabeth, was seen exiting the church.
He was seen walking down the street alone after the funeral, clutching what appeared to be an order of service. As they waited to board double-decker wedding buses, guests were observed socializing and lingering in the street.
Sam Bowes-Lyon, also known as Sam, is Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin twice removed and the late Queen Mother’s great-great-nephew. In February 2020, he was sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a 26-year-old woman at his ancestral residence, Glamis Castle.
He persuaded her to open a door before pushing her onto a bed and assaulting her for 20 minutes with a drink-fueled onslaught. A court heard that his force, aggression, and persistence left the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, with nightmares and the need for therapy.
He admitted to the sexual assault that occurred on his 16,500-acre farm near Forfar, Angus. At Dundee Sheriff Court, he was sentenced to ten months in prison and his name was added to the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years.
He had previously apologized to his victim in public, but Sheriff Alistair Carmichael told him that he had no choice but to go to jail. After serving half of his term, the aristocrat is believed to have been freed from prison in August of last year, Daily Mail reported.
