Inmate serving sentenced for murder found dead in Alabama prison; read deets

BESSEMER, Ala. — An inmate, accused of serious crimes found dead Sunday morning in the William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer. Correctional staff found 63-year-old John Lionel Buskey lying unresponsive on the floor of the Jain. It was an open bay-style prison dorm shortly after 4:30 a.m., according to the coroner’s office. The accused was pronounced dead a short time later.
Buskey, the inmate who was found dead was serving a life sentence for murder from a 1993 conviction out of Montgomery County. At this time, there was no evidence of trauma or foul play found during the investigation. An autopsy will be performed to assist with determining the cause and manner of death following the incident. The Alabama Department of Corrections – Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating about the same.
