According to recent medical examiner papers obtained by The Independent from the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, Cara passed away from arteriosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with diabetes mellitus noted as a contributing factor.
Her cause of death was determined to be natural. Hence neither an autopsy nor a toxicology report was conducted. On November 26, Cara’s death was reported via her official Twitter account.
Irene Cara “died away in her Florida home,” the message stated, adding, “I am deeply saddened to announce her passing on behalf of her family.”
Irene’s family has asked for privacy while they grieve, it continued. Through her music and films, she left behind a beautifully endowed spirit whose legacy will endure forever.
