Flea, a well-known performer and the bassist for RHCP, posted a message on Instagram expressing his sympathies for Dix Denney’s passing. “He was a musician, painter, sculptor, innovator, and instrument manufacturer,” the author claimed. I’m glad I got to be his friend. “Wiggle your toes! Wiggle your fucking toes!” he cried. He didn’t talk much, but he was funny and intelligent when he did. I hoped he liked me because I admired him.
I performed music for him and went on adventurous trips into the bush with him. In 1975, he and his gorgeous brother John founded the punk rock group The Weirdos. On a social media platform, Dex’s older brother sent his condolences for the passing of his younger brother. I must tell you that my dear brother Dix has passed away with much sadness. He died away quietly in his sleep on Friday night. Only four months he has passed since the death of Annick, his lovely wife of 44 years. He died of a shattered heart, in our opinion. He was an artist at heart, much like his parents who came before him. Dix was not only a talented guitarist but also a painter and a luthier. He was a man of few words and a kind soul who expressed his wrath through his guitar. My little brother and guitar idol, he will always be.
