The department said grant applications will be accepted from Wednesday, April 17, through Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Licensed childcare providers are able to apply for grants that pay a bonus of $3,000 for full-time working employees and $1,500 for part-time employees. The department said Child Care Workforce Stabilization grants aim to help childcare providers recruit and retain workers as the industry has struggled to recover since the pandemic.
The department said more than 12,700 employees received bonuses for the eighth round of grants, an increase of 26% compared to the first round.
The two-year period, which was set by the federal government, is to end in September. These grants are funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.
To qualify, the department said providers needed to be licensed and must operate in good standing with DHR when they are eager to apply and receive a grant. They also need to remain in operation for at least one year after a grant is given.
