Several states have already mailed out their fourth stimulus checks, while others are ready to introduce new laws to aid Americans in January. With 2022 fast approaching, each state is already making plans for future financial aid.
High COVID-19 Cases Calling for Additional Economic Assistance
As the number of covid-19 cases has risen to new daily highs in recent weeks, there have been increasing calls for additional economic assistance for the American people and businesses. While few governments have committed to a full round of stimulus checks, some have added further pandemic-related services that state residents can seek, the MSN posted.
According to Census survey data from late July to early August, about one in every four households in the United States struggled to pay their household bills in the preceding week. People expected things to be back to normal 100 percent by now, and we’re still not there, according to Andrew Stettner, an unemployment expert at the left-leaning Century Foundation.
State-Level Stimulus Check
The CBS News reported that other states, such as Colorado, have already provided stimulus payments using pandemic funding, such as $375 checks to more than 400,000 individuals who claimed unemployment benefits during the pandemic in December. New Mexico, Washington, D.C., and Vermont are among the states and municipalities that have helped residents affected by the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the enhanced federal ChildTax Credit, which provides up to $300 per child, gives monthly checks to approximately 70 million people through December. According to a study of Census data by the left-leaning Economic Security Project, that money is helping families with children pay for necessities like food, school supplies, and clothing.
Beginning August 27, California will begin sending checks worth up to $1,100 to approximately 25 million households to help the state’s low- and middle-income families. A second stimulus check has been given by the state. Maryland approved stimulus payments earlier this year, but only for those who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on their tax forms. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is for low- to moderate-income taxpayers.
Governor Ron DeSantis approved $1,000 incentives for the state’s more than 170,000 K-12 public school and public charter school teachers and principals earlier this year. According to CBS Miami, the financing comes from $216 million in federal stimulus funds. Also, in Dallas Fort-Worth, many Texas teachers will get incentives at the start of the school year. In addition, individual school districts, including Irving and Denton, Texas, have authorized the bonuses rather than a statewide effort.
