The Thompson Warriors had a successful beach trip at the Gulf Coast Classic III in Gulf Shores. They achieved a 6-2 record during the tournament. The team secured four consecutive victories in bracket play, reaching the championship game where they faced Hewitt-Trussville. In their pool play, they started with a 3-2 win over the Columbia Academy Bulldogs. Kadyn Bush and Laney Williams began the second inning with singles, leading to a run scored by Morgan Adolphus.
Errors by the Columbia team allowed Thompson to extend their lead to 3-0. Although the Bulldogs scored two runs, Thompson held on for a 3-2 victory. Aubree Hooks pitched a complete game, securing the win for Thompson with a strong performance on the mound.
After facing their third loss of the season against Daniel Boone, the Warriors came back strong in their last pool play game against the Adamsville Cardinals. They quickly took the lead in the top of the first inning with a series of scoring plays. Bush, Williams, Hooks, and Hall all contributed to the scoring, building a 8-0 lead. The Warriors continued to dominate, with Burnett and Motes adding to the lead with more runs.
The Cardinals loaded the bases again, and Williams came through with her second big hit of the day, a bases-clearing triple, bringing the score to 11-0. Thompson kept the momentum going into the second inning with walks and singles by Hamm, Davis, and Adolphus, extending their lead to 13-0. Adolphus added one more run with an RBI groundout in the fourth inning, securing a 14-0 victory for Thompson. Haney pitched three shutout innings, striking out four batters without allowing any walks. In bracket play on Wednesday, March 27, the Warriors faced the Chilton County Tigers.
They started strong, scoring four runs in the second inning with key hits from Tindell and Bauer. The team continued to dominate, adding runs in the third and fourth innings, including a three-run homer by Motes. Davis sealed the 10-0 win with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Bush and Haney showcased their pitching skills, with Bush recording six strikeouts and Haney adding four strikeouts in a two-inning save. Next up, the Warriors took on the Curry Hornets, the No. 2 team in Class 4A.
