Kyle Jacobs, the husband of Kellie Pickler, died at age 49, apparently by suicide, says police.
Authorities reported that the singer-songwriter appeared to have shot himself when he was found dead.
A spokeswoman for the Nashville Police Department confirmed on Friday to Fox News Digital that Jacobs was discovered “dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in an upstairs bedroom/office.”
The statement also said that it was being looked into whether or not his death was a suicide.
“Kellie Pickler, the wife of Mr. Jacobs, stated that she awoke a little while earlier, did not see her husband, and immediately started looking for him. When she and her personal assistant were unable to unlock the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant dialled 911 “.
After dating for a year and a half, Pickler and Jacobs declared their engagement in 2010. On New Year’s Day of 2011, they were wed in a secret ceremony. 2010’s fifth season of “American Idol” saw Pickler finish sixth.
Jacobs relocated to Nashville in 2000 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The number one single “8th World Wonder” by “American Idol” alum Kimberly Locke in 2004 was co-written by Jacobs.
Later, he collaborated on “More Than A Memory,” a song by Garth Brooks that became the first country record in Billboard Hot Country Songs chart history to launch at number one.
Together with Pickler, he also wrote songs for Kelly Clarkson, George Strait, Randy Travis, Clay Walker, Scott McCreery, Jo Dee Messina, Josh Kelley, and Craig Morgan. “Back Home” and “Already Gone,” two songs that Jacobs co-wrote, were played on the ABC musical drama series “Nashville.”
Jacobs was successful as a record producer as well. He helped Lee Brice achieve three number-one singles, including “Hard To Love,” “I Drive Your Truck,” and “Drinking Class” in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
“I Love Kellie Pickler,” a CMT reality series that aired from 2015 to 2017, featured Jacobs and his wife as co-stars.
Jacobs collaborated on the album “Hello World” by Brice in 2020. He acknowledged the album’s RIAA platinum status in his most recent Instagram post, which was published on Thursday.
He posted a picture of the album’s cover with the caption, “Platinum?! SWEEEET!!! This one was put together by an excellent group of people with incredible talent… I’m incredibly honoured to have contributed in whatever way… I’m grateful to Jesus!”

Kyle Jacobs, a country music artist and the husband of “American Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler, was discovered dead on Friday after what appeared to be a suicide, Nashville police said. He was 49.
In the Nashville home that the reality-show couple shared, Pickler called the police when she couldn’t access a closed door and couldn’t find her spouse.
When the Nashville Fire Department and police arrived, they discovered Jacobs “dead from self-inflicted bullet wound in an upstairs bedroom,” according to authorities. It continued, “His death is being examined as an apparent suicide.”
Jacob had celebrated the platinum-selling status of singer Brice Lee’s album “My World,” which he had produced the day before he passed away.
Jacobs was also responsible for the singles “I Drive Your Vehicle,” “Hard to Love,” “Rumor,” and “Drinking Class” by Brice.
Jacobs composed Tim McGraw’s “Still” and Garth Brooks’ 2007 hit single “More Than a Memory.” Moreover, he collaborated with hitmakers Clay Walker, Randy Travis, and Kelly Clarkson.
He was nominated for a Grammy, received an Academy of Country Music Award, and received a Country Music Association Award.
