On December 17, 2022, over a month following Madalina Cojocari, 11, vanishing in North Carolina, her stepfather and her mother were taken into custody.
On November 23, 2022, Madalina Cojocari was last seen at her residence in North Carolina. The mother and stepfather of the 11-year-old allegedly did not notify the school resource officer about her disappearance until December 14. According to reports, the school notified local police, who started hunting for the missing girl & asked the FBI for assistance.
After waiting three weeks to report Madalina’s missing, Madalina’s stepfather and mother were apprehended on December 17, 2022, Saturday, according to the Cornelius Police Department. Why the parents delayed informing authorities is yet unknown.
According to local news outlets, authorities were reportedly digging up the young girl’s property as concerns for her safety increased. She has been missing for about a month.

According to Fox News, Cojocari was last seen walking around in jeans, a white t-shirt, a jacket, and white, pink, and purple Adidas shoes. Authorities have urged those with information about Madalina Cojocari’s whereabouts to get in touch with the Cornelius Police Department.

In the video, Madalina can be seen twirling her hair as she prepares to get off the school bus while strolling down the aisle in a white T-shirt with three other students.
The video was taken just before 5 p.m. on November 21 — two days before her parents believed they saw her — and according to the combined forces, “this is the last time investigators have authoritative proof of when Madalina was last seen.”
That would imply that Madalina did not board the bus the following day, Tuesday, November 22, the final day before the closing of neighbourhood schools for Thanksgiving.
In Cornelius, search crews also searched a nearby lake after people were requested to “flood the region” with pictures of “her sweet face” by police.

After that, Bailey Middle School officials “continued contact” with her mother to inquire why the child was frequently absent; according to police, she finally admitted that her daughter was missing on December 15.
The FBI expressed their desire for “witnesses outside the family” who might “narrow down the exact timeframe of when she disappeared” to be prompted by the film.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Inquiry is also a part of the investigation, and it was stated that “there is nothing we won’t do to find Madalina.”
The bond hearing for her mother and stepfather, who were arrested on Saturday, is scheduled for next Wednesday. They will both spend the holiday season in the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
