Verbena Elementary creates handprints for Week of the Young Child

More than 50 students from Verbena Elementary School got involved in the Week of the Young Child activities happening in April. They created handprints that will be shared at the Alabama State Capitol. Verbena collaborated with The Alabama Partnership for Children, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing outcomes for children aged birth to five in Alabama. The students made unique handprints to be presented to representatives from the Chilton County districts during the April event.

Brittany Bice, a teacher at Verbena Elementary School, expressed gratitude for the chance to send these handprints, highlighting the importance of the representatives’ role and how their decisions impact these young lives.

These handprints are part of the Week of the Young Child, taking place from April 6-12. They will be distributed at the Strolling Thunder event at the Alabama State Capitol on April 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event aims to connect participants with state and local elected officials to raise awareness for children from birth to age three. The event will kick off with a press conference featuring Gov. Kay Ivey on the Capitol Building’s front steps, followed by activities for children and informational sessions for adults on the South Lawn.
