Romy Coppola, Sofia Coppola’s daughter, became well-known after claiming that she was punished for trying to rent a helicopter.
The teenage daughter of Sofia Coppola gained notoriety after recording a video regarding being taken away from home because she attempted to book a helicopter with her father’s credit card.
As one of her TikTok videos was uploaded to Twitter this week, Romy Mars, the 16-year-old daughter of Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars and Oscar-winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola, became popular on social media. In the video, which has received over a million views, Romy discusses nepotism while preparing meals in her parents’ kitchen.
The adolescent introduced the video by saying, “Cook vodka sauce pasta with me since I’m grounded since I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad’s credit card because I wanted to eat supper with my camp friend.
Romy began her cooking demonstration by informing her viewers that she wasn’t aware of the distinction between an onion and garlic and had accidentally cut up a shallot. When asked why she chose to upload her culinary video on TikTok, Romy said, “because I’m already grounded since my parents’ main rule is I’m not permitted to have any open social media accounts,” as she prepared the vodka sauce, to the camera.
She explained the reason while accepting her father’s Grammy. They don’t want me to be a neo-nazi kid, but TikTok won’t make me famous, so it’s irrelevant.
Romy introduced Ari, her babysitter’s boyfriend, whom she described as her “replacement parents” because “my parents are never home”.
The 16-year-TikTok old’s video has since been removed from her account, but on March 21, Twitter user Savannah (@savbrads) re-posted it there, where it rapidly drew tens of thousands of laughing replies.
“This daughter of Sofia Coppola tiktok… Savannah wrote in the tweet’s caption this means the world to me.
Although “nepotism kids,” or children of renowned or successful parents, have come in for a lot of criticism recently, many Twitter users praised Romy for her open and typical video, even though most teenagers don’t charter helicopters using their father’s credit card.
This is what we want out of nepo babies, a Twitter user wrote. Take notes, other repo infants, please.
Another person said, “A cool method to get grounded is to charter a helicopter across NY to MD for dinner with your camp pal.
One user tweeted: “I would almost forgive anything if more nepotism babies were crazy and open like this,” while another added: “I’m so sorry, she is hilarious.”
Romy’s video editing abilities even garnered some admiration from viewers, demonstrating that the director gene does pass down the generations.
One new admirer exclaimed, “A great short movie, we have a third phase of Coppola directors.”
She’ll be the best Coppola, someone else jokingly said, “This is film.
Daughters Romy Mars, 16, and daughter Cosima Mars, 12, are shared by Sofia Coppola and her husband, Thomas Mars. Sofia Coppola directs highly regarded films like Lost in Translation & Marie Antoinette (real name Thomas Pablo Croquet).
The indie pop singer and Oscar winner first crossed paths in 1999 when Phoenix’s frontman provided music for her second movie, The Virgin Suicides.
Coppola, the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, the director of The Godfather, was wed to Spike Jonze, another director at the time. Following the dissolution of her marriage to Jonze in 1999, she later wed Mars in August 2011 in Italy.
The 51-year-old filmmaker discussed the significance of keeping her family’s “low public profile” out of the spotlight.
I don’t want them to become jaded at any point, she said in 2017 to The Guardian. “I never understood the point of bringing young children to events like movie premieres. I merely want them to experience childhood.
