English musician Glen Matlock is most known for playing the bass guitar in the punk rock band’s original lineup. Punk Glen Matlock never imagined for a second that his exuberant actions would come back to haunt him when he pogoed across the stage with The S*x Pistols.
The infamous band from the 1970s embodied the enthusiasm and defiance of youth and gave their live performances their all. After 40 years, bassist Glen has admitted that the demanding rock and roll lifestyle cost him dearly, leaving him with back pain so bad that he has occasionally had to walk with a stick and has even been bedridden for weeks at a time.
The band’s greatest songs, including Anarchy in the U.K. and God, Save the Queen, were written by Glen, who claims that the agony is completely incapacitating and renders him immobile when it occurs. I am unable to move, and the agony is similar to sccannotuns down my legs. I simply lay there. I once experienced frequent, severe bouts that may last anywhere from six weeks to longer.

In his mid-twenties, Glen, 63, who started his musical career as a teenager, initially felt back trouble. Instead of seeking medical counsel due to his busy recording and touring schedule, he shrugged it off.
According to an MRI study bulging disc in Glen’s spine was the source of his pain three years ago.
A slipped or herniated disc is a common spinal injury that, if the disc is pressing on the sciatic nerve, can result in several issues, including severe lower back pain, numbness in the shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs, or feet, neck pain, muscle weakness, and pain in the buttocks, hips, or legs.

English musician Glen Matlock (born August 27, 1956) is most known for playing the bass guitar in the Sex Pistols’ first lineup of the punk rock group. Although he had quit the band before the album’s recording, he is listed as a songwriter on 10 of the album’s 12 songs, including “Anarchy in the U.K.” and “God Save the Queen,” despite having only performed bass and backing vocals on two of the album’s songs.
He has performed with numerous other bands since leaving the S*x Pistols in 1977, including Rich Kids, whose single “Rich Kids” had a U.K. #24 hit in 1978. He has also showcased his solo work. For subsequent S*x Pistols reunions, such as the 1996 Filthy Lucre Tour, the 2002 concert honouring Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee, their 2003 North American Piss Off Tour, and their 2007–08 U.K. and Europe Combine Harvester Tour, Matlock resumed bass guitar duties after the passing of his replacement in the S*x Pistols, Sid Vicious.
Childhood & Early life
Till 1974, Matlock was a student at Saint Martin’s School of Art. He joined the S*x Pistols as their first bassist after meeting guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook while working at Malcolm McLaren’s London clothes store S*X. He is listed as a co-writer on 10 of the album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the S*x Pistols’ 12 songs, and the bassist and backup vocalist on the song Anarchy in the U.K.
His overall impact on the album has been contested, though: Jones stated in a 2011 interview that he was “weary of Matlock’s boasts that he had co-authored some of the punk icon’s biggest tracks,” adding that he had written as many songs as Matlock. However, Matlock states in his autobiography, I Was just a Teenage S*x Pistol, that the band; Iy created two songs after his departure.
In a 2014 interview, he claimed to have contributed significantly to the songs on the album. According to Cook, Matlock contributed the majority of the tunes to the CD. Furthermore, despite Jones’ assertion that Matlock disagreed with many of Johnny Rotten’s lyrics, Matlock has stated that he did not.
Late in February 1977, Matlock quit the group. According to rumours at the time—given to media outlets by manager Malcolm McLaren—he was “thrown out” because he enjoyed the Beatles. The assertion that Matlock “was even more enamoured with The Faces and the mod groups extensively aired on London pirate radio in the late ’60s, as did Steve Jones and Paul Cook,” according to Steve Huey of AllMusic, was false.
