The National Weather Service has a good news and bad news in the latest forecast. The bad: A Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather has been added for parts of the state ans might be faced this Friday. The good: Forecast rainfall amounts have trended downward slightly for Thursday this time.
The state is set to have another day of pleasant weather today. However, rain returns could return by Thursday afternoon and evening with better chances on Friday. And this has high chances to last through the weekend. It won’t be a constant rain, according to the weather service, but showers will be possible on and off.
There could some severe storms on Friday. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 1 out of 5 (or marginal) risk for severe weather for parts of west and central Alabama for Friday (see the forecast at the top of this post). Talking about Level 1 risk, it means that isolated severe storms will be possible. The stronger storms would be most likely during the afternoon hours on Friday.
The weather service said damaging wind gusts and hail will be the things to watch during the Friday’s storms. Strong storms aren’t a sure thing: The weather service said the intensity of storms will be highly dependent on what happens earlier in the day on Friday.
The clouds could hamper heating and keep things in check. So it will be a wait-and-see situation. Parts of the state could receive several inches of rain before the weekend is over this time. Later, the amount of rainfall has decreased in the latest forecast from the weather service.
