Bonus stimulus checks of up to $1,500 are due to be sent to workers in one state, paid for by stimulus monies from President Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan legislation.
The state is Alabama, and the workers are state child care staff who are being rewarded as part of a recruiting and retention effort. That’s because, like many other industries in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the child care industry is experiencing a personnel crisis.
Who can receive a fresh stimulus check?
Not just in Alabama, but across the country. These bonuses arrive at a time when the prospect of more broad-based stimulus checks has faded.
These kinds of inspections will increasingly be determined by where you live and who you are. Or, in the case of the Alabama bonus payments, more explicitly, the type of work you accomplish.
The aforementioned stimulus checks are being paid to over 10,000 child care workers in Alabama. They total $12.6 million and come on the heels of the Alabama Department of Human Resources’ first round of Child Care Workforce Stabilization awards. The second round will take place from February 28 to March 18, according to BGR via MSN.
Bonuses of $1,500 for full-time employees and $750 for part-time employees are included in the grants. The Alabama Department of Human Resources granted them to 1,278 child care providers that applied between December 2021 and January 2022. In all, 65 percent of the state’s qualified child care providers applied for and received funding. Bonuses have been authorized for 10,065 workers.
IRS TREAS 310; a federal stimulus check
In recent weeks, millions of Americans will have received a fresh stimulus check in the mail, with the transaction simply branded IRS TREAS 310. Even if not everyone getting the stimulus check was aware that it was coming, this code applies to IRS tax refunds.
Per Digital Market News, the ‘310’ denotes a tax refund, and the source of the funds is evident. Normally, you’d have to claim a tax refund stimulus check while submitting your annual tax return, but thanks to a new provision included in the recent stimulus check law, many more individuals will be able to do so this year.
The American Rescue Plan, which was signed into law in March, includes a whopping $1.9 trillion in government funds. Several programs were featured. Many of the IRS TREAS 310 payments stem from a little-known provision that exempts the first $10,200 in unemployment benefits from taxation in 2020.
