Chicago Bears signing former South Alabama standout

For the third time in his career, tight end Gerald Everett is changing teams in NFL free agency and this has left everyone shocked. After two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, Everett plans to join the Chicago Bears this time. However, when he becomes a free agent at 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, NFL Network and ESPN reported, for a two-year, $12 million contract.
The Bears have one tight end under contract for the 2024 season – Cole Kmet and this had 73 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 2023 by far. Chicago’s other tight ends totaled 15 receptions in 2023.

Everett had 51 receptions for 411 yards. That’s not all, he also had three touchdowns in 2023 for the Chargers after reaching career highs with 58 receptions. Another thing to note is that they have 555 yards and four touchdowns in 2022, his first season with the team.
The first NFL Draft pick from South Alabama, Everett played for USA in 2015 and 2016, joining the Jaguars. This was when UAB dropped its football program after his single season with the Blazers in 2014. In his NFL career, Everett has caught 284 passes for 2,833 yards and 19 touchdowns and run 12 times for 61 yards and one touchdown in 107 regular-season games.
He has nine receptions for 163 yards and one touchdowns in approximately seven postseason games. He has played the first four seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Rams after entering the NFL as a second-round selection in the 2017 draft. He even left Los Angeles for the Seattle Seahawks in 2021 as a free agent, and he moved from the Seahawks to the Chargers in free agency in 2022.
